My Week In Running Febuary 18 - 24th

I was avoiding writing this because last week was a huge fail.  I realize like 10 people read this blog and no one cares, especially on weeks that there are no pictures.  It was supposed to be a low milage week but I only ran 25 miles and no long run.  I completely blame the weather.  Luckily this current week is off to a much better start.  The weather is just as horrible but I'm taking better advantage of running oppoertunities.  Last week the gym was closed for 2 days because of a snow storm and the same thing has already happened this week with a new snow storm.  I can only force myself on the basement treadmill for so many miles a week before I'm afraid I'll die of boredom so last week stuck at home with my 2 year old didn't go great.  I can only run on it while she is sleeping.

Monday:  Taught my AOA water fitness class then had time for 4 miles on the treadmill.

Tuesday: Worked in the morning in childcare and in the evening as a wellness coach.  Thinking I would have plenty of running time later in the week I skipped working out today.

Wednesday:  Went to bootcamp class then ran 7 miles on the treadmill.

Thursday:  Snowed in at my house.  Not thrilled.  Ran 4 miles on treadmill in basement while Gretchen was asleep.

Friday:  Still snowed in and super annoyed.  Apparently my street is one of the last on the city's plow list.  Shoveled half the drive, enough to get my car out if they decide to plow my street.  Ran 6 miles on treadmill while Gretchen was asleep.

Saturday:  My street was plowed sometime when I was asleep last night.  Mom came over to watch Gretchen, Thanks!  I went to an all day class on group exercise.  I didn't get a chance to run.

Sunday:  My parents picked Gretchen up on their way home from the farm show so that I could go to a strength and conditioning class on Monday and Tuesday(because of a second super fun snow storm Tuesday didn't happen but Gretchen was still out at my parents.)  After they left I completely did not want to run but forced myself through 4 miles on the treadmill.

Weekly total:  25 miles, no long run, not great.

My Week in Running Febuary 11-17

Monday:  Taught my second water fitness class, the AOA (active older adults) class.  I think it went super well.  The 9:15 Monday morning class is now my class.  After the class I had time for 4 miles on the treadmill.

Tuesday:  Took a cross traning class in the morning then ran an easy 3 miles on the treadmill later that day.  I didn't have time for running right after class because Gretchen and I had plans to lunch at the Dinosaur Cafe with my cousin Jen and her son Wesley.  It is quite a place, I didn't take any decent pictures.

The Dino Cafe happens to be in the same shopping center as a Nike outlet store so I picked up these beauties.

Wednesday:  Because of my schedule this week I was worried about getting all my miles in so this morning I set the alarm for 6 and then ran 6 miles on the basement treadmill before Gretchen woke up.  To deal with the boredom of the basement treadmill I tried listening to a Jillian Michael's podcast while running instead of music like usual.  I really liked it.  I love Jillian Michael's and had listened to some of her podcasts before just not while running.  Time went by way faster this way but I think I'll probably still prefer music at the gym.  Went to the gym at 9:15 for bootcamp class then taught water fitness class as a sub, also went great.

Thursday:  I ran 10 miles on the treadmill.  8.75 at marathon pace and the whole run felt easy and like I could of ran it faster so I'm thinking that is a good sign for hitting my marathon goal.

Friday:  Off

Saturday:  Was out at my parents  and had 16 miles on the agenda.  It was cold but I was pumped that the plan was to run to Warrensburg, run in Warrensburg then ending at Old Drum Coffee House and Bakery where my mom would pick me up.  Running to Warrensburg was fun.  I added powered sports drink to my water and had almonds, dried cherries, and salt pills for snacks.  I thought about stoping at my sister's coffeehouse to use the restroom but I was only 9.5 miles in when I was near her shop the first time.  I didn't want to go in then have to leave again so instead I ran over to Wendy's and used their restroom.  I then ran over to the University taking the bridge over 13 and ran the route that Run the Burg Half Marathon follows across town up to HWY 50 then back around.  I ended at my sister's coffeehouse with 17 miles done at an average 8:28 pace.

Stopped here for at about mile 6 for water refills.  I forgot to go back and pick up my water bottle if anyone wants to do that for me if not it will probably still be there next time I'm down.

Ended up at the Coffeehouse where Gretchen and my mom picked me up.

Went back that night to help out at the coffeehouse.  I mostly just stood around looking cute and pretending to work.

Sunday:  Legs felt pretty good just a little tight.  I went out and ran 5 pretty easy miles.

Weekly total: 45 miles

My Week in Running Feb 4th-10th

Monday:  I still was feeling worn out and all round not great but I had my first Active Older Adults water class to teach.  Then I'm pretty sure I didn't accomplish much else that day.

Tuesday:  Bootcamp class followed by 5 easy miles on the treadmill.  Later that day I ran one easy 9:13 minute mile on a treadmill.

Wednesday:  6 miles on the treadmill @ 8:43 pace in the morning then 4 miles on the trail pushing the stroller later in the afternoon.

Thursday:  7 miles on the treadmill.  .5 warm up, 6 miles at race pace then .5 cool down

Friday:  None  I worked a full 8 hours at the gym today.  That's a lot right?

Saturday:  14 miles out on the trail 8:34 pace and it went pretty well, I need to think more about hydration and I do think about it a lot.  I also went out to the trail thinking I was going to see a bunch of other people since it was Saturday and there was supposed to be a high of 50 something temperature.  But it was like 37˚ when I started my run.  Apparently not everyone considerers this great outside weather.

In an absolute minimum effort to make this blog more interesting I added a historical marker from Saturdays run in case my Dad reads this blog post.  I also enjoyed a salt pill while taking this picture.

I've also convinced myself that this is a cute look for me.  16 year old Kristen would not be impressed but then nothing impressed 16 year old me.

Sunday: 4 miles on the streets near my house.  Super windy average pace 8:16.  Should of been slower but it felt kinda easy and the wind was blowing me.

Weekly total:  41 miles completely happy with this number

My Week in Running Jan 28th- Feb 3rd

Monday:  Went to the AOA water fitness class, mostly took notes.  Then I jumped on a treadmill and ran 4.5 miles @ 8:34 pace dropping it to 7:30 for half a mile.  It was crazy warm outside for one day only so later that afternoon Gretchen and I went to the trail for 4 more miles at a 8:40 pace.

Tuesday:  Went to a cross training class then ran 5 miles on the treadmill @8:34 pace

Wednesday:  Went to a bootcamp class then ran 4 miles on the treadmill @8:49 pace.

Thursday:  Ran 3 miles on the treadmill doing 4X400 hill repeats.  I did a .5 warmup then my hills at 6:58 pace and in between 400 rests at a 9:00 pace.  I did an incline of 3 on the treadmill.  I wasn't really sure about what incline I should do.  It was uphill but nothing super crazy.
I had a little time to kill later and ran an easy 1.5 miles on the treadmill @9:13 pace.  I was trying to keep the pace slow enough that I didn't sweat.  Turns out I sweat at any pace.

Friday:  Bootcamp class then an hour of study time for an hour it was at the gym so it counts.

Saturday:  7 miles on the treadmill race pace.  .5 warmup, 6 miles @8:00 pace and .5 cool down.  I was not into it but did it anyway.

Sunday:  I did not feel good when I woke up, just really tired and my stomach felt off.  I went out to my parents house and pretty much just laid around till about 2:30 when I got it together and went out to run.  I was supposed to do 12 miles but figured I'd just see what happened.  The first 4.8 miles went pretty well then it all went down pretty quickly from there.  At mile 5 I turned around.  While there was no wind running out there defiantly was coming back.  I spent the rest of the run wishing I had brought a hat and gloves and I almost called my sister to come pick me up a bunch of times.  I mostly walked the last mile.  I don't count my walking mileage normally but when it horrible walking mileage only done because I felt I couldn't run anymore it counts.  All that walking brought my pace way up to an average 9:52 but whatever.

Weekly total: 39 miles a little over my goal somehow this just happened.  Still my long run was only 10 lame miles so need to step that up.  Also I just got a smart phone for the first time a few weeks ago and I may of already ruined it by sweating on it.  I'm gross and my phone won't let me turn the volume on to speak or hear.  Thoughts?
